Is soy the "miracle food" it claims to be or is it a danger in disguise? Many people around the world eat soy and feel that it is as dangerous as breathing (clean) air. But for most people, soy is anything but safe. Soy does damage to people, male or female, young or old. Its effects can be devastating and most often permanent.
The main people who should not eat soy are people with thyroid problems. The medicine you take will not be absorbed with all those chemicals in soy. Soy has many unnatural ingredients that are just not good for the body and even go as far as weakening the immune system. In infant girls, soy formula can cause them to hit puberty way before their time. In third world countries, where soy is cheap and plentiful, soy has caused 1 percent of infant girls to have breast and pubic hair development before they reach the age of three. A study found that giving infant girls soy formula everyday is like giving them 5 birth control pills a day. In infant boys, the estrogen that soy is packed full of retards both growth of their brain and their bodies. Their bones can even become very brittle, causing a many problems for years to come. In women, soy may be good for them when they are young, but as they grow older, their chances for many types of cancers skyrocket, including the risk of breast cancer. In men, soy can lower testosterone and affect their libido tremendously. Soy can even cause some men to become infertile.
Wait a minute! Don't people like the Japanese eat soy? They do eat it, but only eat a very, very small amounts (2 teaspoons or tablespoons) everyday. Plus, they eat something that combats against the ill effects of soy that many people shy away from, sushi. But even still, some Japanese men experience brain shrinkage and Alzheimer's as an effect of this "miracle" food.
So is soy really that safe for you? If you eat soy and realize problems that weren't there before, you may want to look at that "miracle" food you are eating. The sooner you stop eating it, the better.
