On a chilly, windy, and rainy Saturday afternoon at Hughes Stadium in front of a dismal crowd, the Morgan State Bears would play the number 1 ranked South Carolina State Bulldogs in a matchup to determine a possible MEAC Champion. The lost Morgan State sustained from playing against the Spartans of Norfolk State two weeks ago strongly foiled their chances of winning the MEAC title.
It's difficult for many students to leave their home from another state and come to college. For volleyball standout Rhyan Shy, moving more than 3,000 miles away was no easy feat. There may be a few things you might not know about 18-year-old Shy. For instance, she is a Freshman Pre-Medicine major; she was the first African-American student body President at Los Osos High School, in Rancho Cucamonga, California; her favorite movie is Brown Sugar; she was a three-year volleyball letter winner earning 1st Team All-Baseline League, 2nd Team All-County and Offensive Player of the Year honors while in California; and has quickly become one of Morgan's best offense volleyball players, in her first year as Outside Hitter for the Lady Bears.
Young Jeezy's lyrical content ascended over the speakers as the Morgan State Women's Basketball team took their final practice shots before a scrimmage against West Virginia State inside Hill Field House on November 11, 2008. They have practiced into all hours of the night, lifted weights, run suicides and pushed their bodies to the mental and physical limits for this moment.
